SWANSEA AQUATICS STATEMENT REGARDING TRAINING POSTPONEMENT
Thank-you for your patience whilst members of the Exec committee and coaching staff consulted to determine a way forward. I’m sure you can appreciate these are challenging and fast-moving times.
After receiving advice from Swim Wales strongly advising clubs to cancel or postpone all aquatic activity, it is with regret that Swansea Aquatics will suspend all squads training activity with effect from Friday 20 March until further notice.
On this note, we will be pausing all squad fees from 1 April 2020. We will not be issuing refunds for March fees already paid but will ensure when fees are resumed at a later date, that the 2 weeks remaining in March are compensated.
The club realises that this comes at a time when we are asking members to sign up for a new membership year. We still intend to re-register all of our swimmers for the 20/21 membership year with Swim Wales, this will ensure that as soon as we are able to resume, we will be able to recommence our training programme at the earliest opportunity.
We urge anybody who wishes to resume with the club when we are up and running again to continue with their re-registration. This will help the club to be able to forward plan during a difficult time.
We recognise that the implications of this decision are far reaching and that swimmers, and by association families, will be affected by not having the opportunity to learn, train, socialise, compete, release energy, etc.
We hope that our actions will show you that the well-being of our members is always at the forefront of any decision that we make.
Like many businesses and organisations, the virus will have a huge impact on our club. Whilst we have made every effort to cut our costs to a minimum during this period, there may come a time where we may have to make some difficult decisions and we may have to ask our members for support to help the club through such a period.
Swansea Aquatics committee & coaching team will work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that we make all possible provisions to enable our great club to continue to thrive once we are able to resume.
We wish all of our members, their families and all of our clubs’ supporters a heartfelt thanks for your continued support during this troubling time and stay safe and well.
