Hi all,

The swimming galas are coming in thick and fast and we finally have confirmation that the Swim Wales Regional Championship 2022 – West will be taking place in February 2022 at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre.

For those who have attended many of these events over the years, you will know that the children swim well at this event. It’s fun and fast and even though the event will only be run over one weekend this time, the children will still have an absolute blast.

We are currently looking for volunteers from our vast pool of wonderful parents to lend a hand in the smooth running of the 2-and-a-half-day event. We need people to check the swimmers in at the start of each session, checking LFTs, COVID Reps, marshals, announcers, runners, spectator entry table (to take payments if we have spectators) and the medal table and if there is anyone with a steady hand to help with the live stream, we will be most appreciative.

We aren’t asking for all day help, we can mix and match sessions to suit when your swimmer will be at the pool, and we will be putting a call out to the other clubs that attend our region for help as well. All we ask is you arrive a little earlier than normal to be set up and be ready to go when we open the doors.

We are working on the meet with the expectation that there will be spectators, but since the COVID landscape changes daily, we will be unable to confirm if, or indeed how many spectators we will be able to have until much closer to the date.

In the event that we are unable to have spectators, anyone who offers to help, will, once the swimmers are on poolside and the meet is underway become the cheering section and be able to watch the children swim from inside the pool hall.

If you would be available and willing to help, please drop me an email to kelly.stokes1982@gmail.comand we can discuss what you would be happy to do. Do not worry if you have never helped before, we will make sure everyone knows exactly what they are doing well before the day.

As a little thank you, we will provide you with food and drinks.

At Swansea Aquatics, our older swimmers love West Wales Galas (ask any of them), and we are looking forward to bringing the weekend to many new swimmers who I’m sure will love it just as much. So, if your swimmer is in the pool for any of the sessions, come and help out and see what all the fuss is about.

I look forward to hearing from you.
